I’ve now acquired HSV #54! After a journey north from Sydney to just beyond Newcastle, I completed the purchase and loaded the car for its trip home. I had some concerns about certain sections of the Pacific Motorway, particularly near Mount White and the Mooney Mooney Bridge. Towing the car over the range added to the challenge.
The verdict? No issues! The steepest climb, just before Mooney Mooney, slowed us down to 55 km/h on the motorway, but the car handled it admirably. Coming down Mount White, I anticipated a tricky descent but relied on engine braking the whole way and had no trouble at all.
I made it back to the Southern Highlands safely and in good time. This car continues to impress me, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the experience of owning it.
HSV #54 now joins the fleet alongside #57, #13, and SE #62. The plan for #54 is to give it a full restoration before releasing it back into the wild for someone else to enjoy.
